Bahçeşehir University -with permission from the Turkish National Assembly- was founded by the Bahçeşehir Ugur Foundation for Education in Istanbul 1998.

 

 

  •  An academic and strategic protocol was signed later that year with San Diego State University in California 
  • Bahçeşehir University expects to be the leading force regionally and nationally in the enhancement of knowledge. Bahceşehir University aims to educate students who are committed to promoting respect for the rights of others, who are considerate and appreciative of human differences, and of the constructive expression of ideas.
  •   Bahçeşehir University considered one of the best privately owned universities in Turkey and was one of the few Turkish universities that gave lectures in the English language, so Bahçeşehir University remains a high priority for students applying for a high level of English language proficiency
  •  Its motto is "An International University in the Heart of Istanbul" as evidenced by its international campus in Washington, DC, Boston, Toronto, Rome, Berlin, and Hong Kong
  • It also has nearly 200 international partners, including Harvard University

The Erasmus+ Program and BAU

 

 BAU is actively engaged with establishing and maintaining partnerships with institutions from around the world that can provide international opportunities for students, faculty and staff, alike. One important aspect of this is BAU’s participation in the European Union’s Erasmus program.BAU has more than 150 Erasmus agreements with European institutions, the majority of them focusing on student mobility.BAU also engages institutions, non-governmental organizations, and governments informal agreements which provide international opportunities for study abroad, faculty mobility, and collaborative work. In both cases, the strategy for identifying and developing partnerships is part of BAU’s overall strategic partnering plan.
